The Purpose

Creighton Community Foundation approached our team with a vision for using rainwater to support a community growing space and the neighbors who gather around it.

The planned rainwater-harvesting system included approximately 160 feet of gutters, four downspouts, underground piping, a sump pump, and a 1,000-gallon storage tank. Our role was to help collect runoff from the roof and guide it toward the larger storage system.

Creighton Community Foundation is a community-led Phoenix nonprofit that partners with schools, families, and neighborhood leaders to address needs such as food access, education, and stronger community relationships.

The Challenge

This project required more than installing gutters for ordinary property drainage. The placement and direction of each downspout needed to support the broader rainwater collection plan.

Our team carefully reviewed the roofline, measurements, water flow, and connection points so the gutter system could work as the first step in capturing and reusing rainfall rather than allowing it to drain away from the property.

Turning Arizona Rain into a Community Resource

Rain gutters are normally installed to protect a property from runoff, erosion, and water damage. For this project, they also served a greater purpose.

The collected rainwater was intended to help sustain a community growing space that could provide fresh produce, hands-on learning, and a place for neighbors to connect. The foundation’s Fresh In The Neighborhood program transforms underused spaces into community gardens and agricultural learning areas that support nourishment and neighborhood involvement.

A Partnership Built Around Shared Values

After meeting Kenny and learning more about his passion for the surrounding community, we knew this project represented the kind of work we wanted to support.

Rain Gutters and Sun Protection donated a portion of the gutter installation to help move the initiative forward. As a locally owned company, we believe protecting property can also mean investing in the people and organizations working to strengthen Arizona neighborhoods.

Designed to collect runoff across the property’s rooflines.

Positioned to direct rainfall toward the larger harvesting system.

The gutter layout supported underground piping and a planned 1,000-gallon storage tank.

A portion of our work was donated in support of the foundation’s community mission.

Our First Step Toward Greater Community Involvement

This partnership became an important first step in making community support a more intentional part of our company.

The project allowed our team to use its experience for more than a traditional installation. It helped create infrastructure designed to protect a property, conserve a valuable natural resource, and support a place where food, education, and relationships could grow.

We are grateful to Creighton Community Foundation for trusting us to contribute to its work nurturing neighborhoods, helping children, and building community in Phoenix.
