The Purpose
The homeowner wanted to make better use of two open areas in the backyard—one near the pool and another beside the barbecue area.
We designed and installed two aluminum cantilever patio covers with solid roofs, creating comfortable outdoor spaces with full shade and protection from the sun and rain. Solid patio cover roofs are designed to provide complete sun protection and a water-tight surface, making them well suited for Arizona outdoor living.
The Challenge
Each structure required only two support posts, so careful planning was essential to create a strong, stable system capable of handling Arizona’s intense sun, seasonal storms, and monsoon winds.
Our team carefully engineered the layout, footing placement, post positions, and roof support before installation. Although this type of cantilever design requires more preparation than a standard four-post structure, the work was completed within the projected budget and timeline.
Custom Shade Designed Around the Backyard
Cantilever patio covers place the support posts along one side of the structure, leaving more open space beneath the roof. This made them a strong fit for the homeowner’s backyard because they created shade without placing unnecessary posts around the pool deck or barbecue area.
The two covers were positioned where they would provide the greatest comfort while preserving clear walking paths, open views, and easy access to the surrounding outdoor features. Cantilevered structures are one of several configurations available depending on the needs and layout of the property.
